It’s been over four months since hip-hop lost rising Brooklyn rapper, Pop Smoke, to a shooting in a Hollywood Hills, CA mansion. He was renting this property as it is owned by ‘Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ star, Teddi Mellencamp and her husband, Edwin Arroyave. The incident went down around 4:30am and after Smoke accidentally posted his address which was on a bag he posted.
12 days before the shooting, Smoke released the sequel to his 2018 debut mixtape, ‘Meet The Woo.’ This featured the single “Christopher Walking” and the remix to “Dior,” feat. Gunna. “Shake The Room” feat. Quavo also emerged as a hit along with “Like Me” feat. PnB Rock being a fan-favorite. The original version for Dior has since been certified gold by the RIAA and Shake The Room is gold.
Meet The Woo 2 continues to prove to be one of the hottest projects of 2020 as it has also been certified gold by the RIAA, according to Chart Data. This is after selling 500,000 units. Meet The Woo 2 continues to maintain its momentum as Smoke’s debut studio album, ‘Shoot For The Stars, Aim For The Moon,’ will be out on July 3. It was initially supposed to be released on June 12 but it was delayed out of respect to the protests that were bringing awareness to racism and police brutality in America. Instead, the new “Make It Rain” single feat. Rowdy Rebel was released.
