Rihanna’s “Lift Me Up” reaches platinum status
Last weekend, Rihanna trended heavily on social media again, for her performance at the Oscars. There, she performed her latest hit, “Lift Me Up.”
Lift Me Up was initially released last fall, and went on to appear on the “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” soundtrack. It also served as a tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman, who starred in the first Black Panther film, but passed away, in August 2020.
However, Lift Me Up has now reached another major milestone. According to Chart Data, it has sold over 1 million units in the US. As a result, it’s now certified platinum. Lift Me Up initially debuted at number two in the US, on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It was also Rihanna’s first solo single, since 2016.
Rihanna also performed at halftime of the Super Bowl in Glendale, AZ, last month. It was also there that she broke the Internet, after revealing that she’s expecting her second child with A$AP Rocky. That was after showing off her growing baby bump, during the performance. The two welcomed their first child, last May.
Currently, there are now questions on if Rihanna will finally release a new album soon. She hasn’t done so since January 2016. However, in a new interview with British Vogue, she revealed that she’d like to do so, this year.
