There is a reason Rihanna always stayed close to Jay-Z and her career has mirrored his, in many ways. In 2005, Jay-Z signed Rihanna to Def Jam and it was clear she was special to him. Like Jay, Rihanna dropped an album every year, including a compilation in the middle.
In 2012, Rihanna released her final album before taking a four year hiatus, similar to Jay-Z’s retirement. When she returned, she shut the game down, and immediately closed a $25 million deal with Samsung. Since then, she has become a cosmetics magnate.
Rihanna also jumped into lingerie, earlier this year, launching her Savage X Fenty line. The line was trashed by fans and critics, who said it wouldn’t work. But, Rihanna got the W, anyway, as the Savage X Fenty products are all sold out.
