After being away from the game for close to four years, Rihanna came back in strong fashion. Yes, there were plenty of reasons to be upset with how TIDAL handled the release, but Rihanna still won. Scoring $25 million off the album release was a major plus.
Since late 2014, a Drake feature is almost guaranteed mainstream appeal. Given their past chemistry, Rihanna decided to get Drake to give her a boost on “Work,” which worked. Yesterday, Rihanna released the video for “Work” and immediately hit number one on Billboard.
While this was Drake’s first time topping the Billboard Hot 100, Rihanna is a veteran at this. Her latest number one puts her in elite company, actually above it. Now, Rihanna has more number one hits than Michael Jackson, which is a very impressive feat.
