Rod Wave Says He Was Originally Supposed To Appear On Drake’s “Lemon Pepper Freestyle” But He Wasn’t Feeling His Own Verse

Rod Wave has been one of the hottest rappers out over the last few years as last week, he also released his third studio album, “SoulFly.” This week, that project is debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. This is the Florida rapper’s first ever No. 1  album of his career. Now, he is revealing how he was almost involved in Drake’s “Lemon Pepper Freestyle.”

Rod was recently interviewed by co-hosts Eddie and Nick of Apple Music’s The Plug Radio. There, he revealed that he was originally supposed to be featured on Lemon Pepper Freestyle instead of Rick Ross. In the end, Rod didn’t like his verse so he simply had it scratched.

“Yeah, I supposed to be on that [Lemon Pepper Freestyle] but I didn’t like how my verse came out. So I kind of scratched it. I didn’t like how my voice came out and you know with a Drake feature, you don’t want to, you know what I’m saying?”

Lemon Pepper Freestyle appeared on Drake’s “Scary Hours 2” EP, which was released almost a month ago. This record was certified gold on Friday, as are the other two songs from the EP. All three also debuted in the top three of the Billboard Hot 100 chart as that made Drake the first artist to ever reach this milestone.
