Nevermind the strange spelling – it stands for Caution Against Racially Exploitative Non-Emergencies, or CAREN Act, which is an ordinance that calls for people that call law enforcement based on racial bias to face criminal charges. One time for the culture! This is a result of the power of social media as people of color across the country have captured racist Caucasian women in the act of displaying outrageous racism and immediately playing victim in front of the police.

The legislation seeks to “protect the rights of communities of color” who are victimized by “fraudulent emergency calls” San Francisco’s Supervisor Shamann Walton states as he introduced the CAREN Act during Tuesday’s Board of Supervisors meeting after response to several high-profile 911 calls involving people of color.

“This is the CAREN we need. Racist 911 calls are unacceptable”

Meanwhile, in New York, Amy Cooper, the Caucasian lady that called the cops on the black guy in Central Park that was bird watching? And asked her to leash her dog? Yes. She was charged by The Manhattan district attorney. Progress is slowly but surely being made and much of this progress is due to the content created going mainstream, as “Karen”-spotting has become a national pastime across the country. And we are here for it.

Let’s continue making change in a positive direction.
