Attention was shifting to the West Coast before TDE, but when the world discovered them, they became the focal point. In 2011, Kendrick Lamar emerged as one of the biggest rappers in the game. ScHoolboy Q was right behind him in terms of popularity and he has his own run now.
Earlier this year, ScHoolboy Q released his major label debut album, Oxymoron, with the “Studio” single blowing up now. A lot of elements were brought back to the game through ScHoolboy Q, including the bucket hats. Outside of this, the music is simply good from ScHoolboy Q.
This morning, ScHoolboy Q was at Hot 97 to talk to Ebro, Laura Stylez, DJ Cipha Sounds, and Peter Rosenberg. While he was there, ScHoolboy Q talked about his affinity for bucket hats, his new album, and Ab-Soul. The interview was very amusing on several levels.
