Black activist groups often call out VH1 and Bravo over their portrayals of black people on their reality shows. On many of these shows, black women are seen arguing and slandering each other on a weekly basis. While most of these shows are purely entertainment, some typically liberal fans were upset after watching the trailer of Shawty Lo’s “All My Babies’ Mamas.”
The series is set to air on Oxygen, but is controversial, as Shawty Lo is the father of eleven children born to ten mothers. Once upon a time, men fathered ten plus children, but that has been a thing of the past, with rare exceptions. However, Shawty Lo has crossed lines with many people, as the “baby mamas” all live with him.
Playing into countless stereotypes, pressure has been placed on Oxygen to pull the show. Known as a wholesome network, with the exception of “The Bad Girls Club,” Oxygen runs the risk of alienating their traditional viewers. Now, according to some sources, Oxygen may pull this show, after all.
