Silento broke out as a star in 2015 with the success of his hit single, “Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae.” This record was very popular among children as it peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It is also 6x platinum in the US. Unfortunately for the Atlanta native though, he was arrested in February for a felony murder charge.
Silento is accused of reportedly murdering his cousin, Frederick Rooks. Rooks is said to have been shot by the artist back on January 21 as eight bullet castings were found at the scene. His PR manager, Chanel Hudson, ended up going on Instagram and claimed that Silento has been battling mental health issues for quite some time now.
Now, Silento is looking to get out of jail for now and wants to post $25,000 bond, according to TMZ. Documents were filed in DeKalb County, where he says he’s “not an extraordinary bail risk and will not jeopardize the safety of the community if released on bail.”
Silento also added that he won’t go on the run if he is granted bond. He even went as far as to saying that it’s unconstitutional if he isn’t allowed to post bond. He’ll see very soon if a judge sides with him as a hearing is scheduled for later this month.
