Outsiders may have had a lot to say about New York hip hop over the past couple of years, but dudes in the city were grinding. Harlem is known for its hustlers and Smoke DZA is one who rose to the occasion. Teaming up with Curren$y, Big K.R.I.T., and others, Smoke DZA is a leader in the game.

Recently, Smoke DZA dropped his Dream.Zone.Achieve album and now he has much more coming out the pike. The new album has a lot of positive early reviews and Smoke DZA cannot be happier. Meanwhile, New York has yet another artist from the city that is dominating the game.

Smoke DZA stopped by Shade 45 to talk to Sway for “Sway In The Morning” and he gave a little background on how he got here. Much like anybody growing up in the 1990s or the early 2000s, Smoke DZA’s initial inspiration to rap came from The Notorious B.I.G. The interview also featured Smoke DZA talking about Damon Dash, the overall New York hip hop scene, and more.
