It seems the role Snoop Dogg has held for the Los Angeles-area hip hop scene for so long was finally passed to Game. There was a near-decade gap in LA hip hop dominance before Game debuted. During this gap in artists, Snoop Dogg held things down.
Similarly, Game was the only LA-area rapper making moves, and he helped open the door for Kendrick Lamar, and the others. This allowed for Snoop Dogg to truly add to his legacy. Now, when his albums drop, each one is more record-breaking than the last, due to longevity.
Yesterday, Snoop Dogg took to his Instagram, his favorite social media network, to make an announcement. Having last released an album in 2015 with Bush, his new album is due next month. Titled Neva Left, Snoop Dogg will release his album on May 19.
