Does it really get more hip hop than Sway? Having been with MTV for well over a decade, hip hop has returned to the brand in a strong way due to Sway Calloway’s efforts. The hip hop community has recognized him as a definite leader in hip hop media through both his role on MTV and on Shade 45.
All the respect in the world was not enough to save Sway Calloway from the backlash that came from his “Hottest MCs in the Game” list. Kanye West immediately called Sway out, bringing up him giving the famed personality a TV. A$AP Rocky also spoke out against the list, all of which Sway laughed off.
On yesterday’s episode of MTV’s “RapFix Live,” which featured DJ Khaled, Vado, and N.O.R.E., Sway Calloway recapped last week’s events. Commentary also was offered from both DJ Khaled and N.O.R.E. During the early days of “Hottest MCs in the Game,” the entire list appeared on a DJ Khaled album.
