With news of the government cracking down on websites for piracy, Megaupload was one of the first sites to be shut down. Megaupload has become one of the go-to sites to download music and videos free of charge. Many users of the site were outraged when Megaupload was shut down. The government has seized the domain name “megaupload.com” and the site has remained in the news.
Megaupload made bigger headlines when it was revealed that Swizz Beatz was the owner of the file download site. Before the site was shut down, four days ago, Swizz Beatz’ name had been added to the site, but sources close to the site say it was put up too soon. When legal documents were released, Swizz Beatz’ name was not included on the documents and it was revealed that Swizz Beatz was not the owner, nor the CEO of the site. Swizz Beatz instead had been in discussion with becoming the CEO of Megaupload before the run-in with the government.
Despite Megaupload still being seized by the government, Swizz Beatz is still interested in becoming the CEO of the website. A source told MTV News Swizz Beatz is not turning away from the opportunity.
