During the mid-2000s, hip hop went through a shift, as the lock that such rappers as Jay Z, DMX, and Ja Rule had disappeared. Finally, the South broke through and took the game over. The go-to hook man on these Southern records was T-Pain.
His solo music managed to take the game over, for varying periods of time. However, by 2009, T-Pain saw himself name-checked by Jay Z and it wasn’t particularly flattering fashion. Outside of a strong 2013 resurgence, T-Pain has virtually been forgotten.
Earlier this year, T-Pain received some of the worst news a man can ever hear. He learned his niece, a single mother, was shot and killed as she was leaving from work. Even though it’s been months ago, obviously, T-Pain is still mourning this loss, and he pointed this out when fans tried clowning him over his grass not being cut.
