TDE’s Ali and Kendrick Lamar talk industry situations with Illboyz [VIDEO]

When success hits, people are often told to stay humble, even when it can prove to be a difficult task. Staying humble has led to high volumes of success for the entire “New West” movement spearheaded by Top Dawg Entertainment. In 2010, the label gained national recognition through Jay Rock.

By 2011, however, Jay Rock found himself suddenly playing the role of second fiddle, as the entire rap game did, to Kendrick Lamar. Soon co-signed by Game and Snoop Dogg, life changed for Kendrick Lamar and Dr. Dre took him under his wing. Interscope Records signed a joint venture with Top Dawg Entertainment.

During TDE’s last trip to Germany, they caught up with Hip Hop Vibe’s German affiliates, Illboyz. Kevin Anahid, the CEO of the Illboyz talked to both Ali, who provided the mixing and Kendrick Lamar about the industry and the women. Kendrick Lamar also talked about the past beef between ScHoolboy Q and Hot 97’s Peter Rosenberg.
