The Weeknd released his fourth studio album, ‘After Hours,’ last week and it has dominated streaming numbers. It’s already amassed over 1 billion Spotify streams as the project is led by the singles “Blinding Lights” and “Heartless.”

The momentum continues to build heavily for the Canadian superstar as now, After Hours has officially been certified gold by the RIAA less than a week after its release, according to Chart Data. This is after The Weeknd sold 500,000 units. We’ve started to see other tracks pick up steam such as “In Your Eyes” which has already received over 4.9 million views on YouTube in two days. “Escape From LA” is also starting to become a fan-favorite.

After Hours is definitely what we needed to help us get through this coronavirus pandemic where we’re all encourage to stay home as much as possible. More artists should consider releasing their projects now so fans’ spirits can be uplifted. Lady Gaga and Kehlani have sadly delayed album releases due to the pandemic but it is understandable.
