Best-known as one of the first successful rappers outside of New York City, Too $hort is one of the originators of Bay Area hip hop. A little-known fact is that Too $hort actually was born in Los Angeles and spent his early years there. Oakland is where Too $hort considers his home and he represents it to the fullest.
Too $hort has logged three decades in the game and he has earned his position as a legend in this rap game. Dropping sixteen albums over the span of thirty years, longtime hip hop fans watched Too $hort grow up right in front of their eyes. When speaking of longevity, more attention should be thrown his way.
Al Lindstrom recently teamed up with A&R, Jeff Sledge, for a new series, “Shop Talk,” and Too $hort was their first interview. In the conversation, Too $hort talked about his early years, moving from Los Angeles to Oakland. Too $hort also spoke on the infamous feud between the East and West Coast.
