In 2004, Usher set the bar so high with Confessions and since then many have searched for the next king of R&B. A couple of years ago, Trey Songz would have taken this with no question. But, a few unexpected moves have left the Virginia native trying to win his fan base back.
Listening to Trey Songz, it’s clear he was influenced by Usher. Those watching the BET Honors clearly heard Usher say he was influenced by Bobby Brown, of New Edition fame. As the torch continues to pass, Trey Songz honored Usher.
Performing “Nice and Slow,” Trey Songz did his best to impress Usher. But, the people watching and tweeting noticed that Usher didn’t look very impressed with his successor on stage. They went on to leave all kinds of tweets, ranging from jokes against his singing, to praise, to women just fawning over his looks.
