Trugoy The Dove of De La Soul passes away at 54
On Sunday, hip-hop lost another legend, to begin 2023. This time, Trugoy The Dove aka Dave, of De La Soul, passed away, according to TMZ. At the time, he was only 54-years-old.
However, at this time, it’s unclear what exactly caused Trugoy’s death. Natural causes are suspected to have played a role, though, as he was apparently dealing with an undisclosed illness. It was also revealed that Trugoy passed at a hospital in Maryland.
Recently, it was also revealed that De La Soul’s music would finally reach streaming platforms, starting on March 3. Trugoy has been with with the group since they first started, way back in 1987. Their debut studio album was released in 1989, which was “3 Feet High And Rising.” That saw a number 24 debut in the US, on the Billboard 200 chart.
De La Soul’s final album was released in 2016, which was “And The Anonymous Nobody. That was their ninth studio album and debuted at number 12. They also tapped into television and film, as they appeared as themselves in “Teen Titans Go!” and “Chappelle’s Show.”
