Years before Cash Money Records had branches off their label, such as the Young Money branch led by Lil Wayne and DJ Khaled’s We the Best, the label had a history of unpaid royalties. The label endured a suffering stage when Juvenile and B.G. left the company claiming they were not properly paid. Over the past four years, Cash Money has enjoyed a love/hate relationship with Bangladesh over the same issue.
Young Money has enjoyed much success over the past three years. During the summer of 2009, the label added Drake and Nicki Minaj. With Lil Wayne already successful, their run was that much easier. Countless hits have come since this union, as Young Money remains among the top labels in hip hop. However, it turns out Young Money is living up to the Cash Money reputation, according to two producers.
Andrew “Drew” Correa and Marco “Infamous” Rodriguez have filed separate lawsuits against the label. Correra claims he produced tracks for Tha Carter III, Rebirth, and I Am Not a Human Being by Lil Wayne and Priceless by Birdman. While Correra says he was paid some royalties from the label, they suddenly stopped. Rodriguez made similar claims, saying he produced on Tha Carter III, Rebirth, We Are Young Money, and Tha Carter IV by Lil Wayne and Priceless by Birdman and his royalties suddenly stopped coming too.
The two jointly produced “Mr. Carter” by Lil Wayne featuring Jay-Z, “Prom Queen” by Lil Wayne, and “I Am Not a Human Being” by Lil Wayne.
