LaMelo Ball airballs game-winning 3 pointer in Rising Stars Challenge
For most of this season, LaMelo Ball has looked like a franchise player. Add to that, the Charlotte Hornets were in good position. Sitting six games over .500, the Hornets were holding the sixth spot in the East, just enough to avoid the play-in. Since then, the Hornets have played like one of the worst teams in the league. Currently, the Hornets are sitting two games below .500, and the All-Star break could not have come fast enough.
LaMelo Ball is only 20 years old, but he is the leader of the team. Injuries have kept the Hornets from maximizing their potential. This season, the Hornets have proven they can be a good team. The evidence comes from their wins over the Bucks, Warriors, Sixers, Grizzlies, Celtics, and Cavaliers. However, the Hornets have not had the consistency to keep winning games. While this is frustrating, LaMelo Ball was happy to be a part of the All-Star Game. He avoided being picked last, due to the James Harden trade.
Last night, the NBA’s Rising Stars Challenge took place, and it was Rick Barry vs. Gary Payton. LaMelo Ball played for Team Payton, where he tried to will his squad to a win. Playing scrappy defense, all night, Ball couldn’t find a complete rhythm. In the end, LaMelo Ball went for the game-winning three, and it airballed.
