Stephen Curry blocks Ja Morant’s game winning shot
Stephen Curry was always viewed as a player with potential. By 2013, Stephen Curry gained a reputation of being injury prone. Nearly every season, Steph Curry missed time with ankle injuries. As a result, the Warriors were not a playoff team. However, during the lockdown 2012 season, the Warriors got hot at the end of the year. Curry led the Warriors to the 2013 playoffs, where they upset the Nuggets in the first round.
Stephen Curry managed to put together two healthy seasons by 2014. Curry led the Warriors to 51 wins, their first 50 win season in almost thirty years. The 2014 season was all about the Los Angeles Clippers, as they were expected to make a run. Instead, Steph Curry and Klay Thompson cemented their “Splash Brothers” nickname, taking the Clippers to a Game 7. In Game 7, the Warriors came close to pulling off the upset against the Clippers.
Stephen Curry would win the regular season MVP, a year later. Curry led the Warriors to a then franchise record for wins, at 67-15. With that, Curry led the Warriors to the Finals, beginning a historic run. The Warriors went to the Finals five straight times, with only the Rockets threatening that run. For the first time since 2014, the Warriors are the underdog in a playoff series. Ja Morant and the Grizzlies are why, but when Ja went for the game winner, Steph blocked him.
