In light of the 2017 BET Hip Hop Awards being in Miami, and dedicated to the city, it made sense to feature Miami for the Wednesday Throwback. Often, Trick Daddy, Rick Ross, and DJ Khaled get their shine in their older music. Plies, for whatever reason, goes overlooked.
However, from 2007 through 2009, Plies was making some huge records that dominated radio waves. Few people felt like Plies had the lock he did, but his debut single peaked at number nine on the Hot 100 charts. After that, he even proved he had staying power.
On the BET Hip Hop Awards show, Plies had a huge moment, when he performed with his former Slip-N-Slide label-mates. Now, Hip-HopVibe.com is taking it all the way back. This week’s Wednesday Throwback is dedicated to Plies’ debut single, “Shawty,” featuring T-Pain, off The Real Testament.
