Not too many people realize what Fat Joe brings to the game. Without him, don’t even look the same way at DJ Khaled, Ace Hood, Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, or Maybach Music. They all turned to Fat Joe at one time or another and he helped them out. But, Fat Joe didn’t have a Fat Joe to help him out, he had to do it all on his own.

Before anybody had ever really heard of The Notorious B.I.G. and Jay-Z, Fat Joe was holding things down. Back in 1993, Fat Joe released his debut album, Represent, and he was known as Fat Joe Da Gangsta. Much like New York was a couple years ago, they needed a new hero and Fat Joe delivered an anthem in “Flow Joe.”

During the summer of 1993, Fat Joe Da Gangsta put Realtivity Records on the hip hop map with his “Flow Joe” single. Sampling Lee Dorsey’s “Get Out of My Life” and Morton Stevens’ “The Long Wait,” Fat Joe Da Gangsta helped put New York back on. This song that shifted New York from the era of Rakim and Big Daddy Kane into the 90s boom.
