Every Monday, fans can get up close and personal with Rasheeda, as she has a starring role on VH1’s “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta.” Known before reality television for her music, she provides the “hip hop” element to “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta.” Rasheeda is a living testament to those who are pursuing hip hop music independently.
Last summer, Rasheeda released her single, “Marry Me.” Putting it out on her mixtape, BBM4, Rasheeda experienced success she did not expect with the song. Rising in popularity, Rasheeda has enjoyed the extra attention the single has brought to her and she has a lot to be excited about.
Recently, Rasheeda was nominated for ‘Best Female Hip Hop Artist’ at the 2013 BET Awards, alongside many others. Rasheeda is nominated alongside Nicki Minaj, Azealia Banks, Eve, and Rye Rye. Hip Hop Vibe reached out to Rasheeda for a statement about her nomination, her second time being up for the award.
Read Rasheeda’s statement below:
“I’m extremely happy to be nominated for yet another BET award. It’s a great feeling to know that your work doesn’t go unseen as an independent artist. When you work hard and stay consistent you will rep the benefits. Who would have thought “Marry Me” a fun song I did that was originally on my BBM4 mixtape would have done so well and got me this nomination. Congratulations to all the ladies in the category & thanks BET.”
