An explosive rapper out of Texas to look out for is Zavey. Over the past few months, he has been going harder with his music. Zavey has several mixtapes out and he appears on tons more. Along the way, Zavey racked up collaborations with a few of hip hop’s bigger names.

Zavey, however, has found his best chemistry alongside Heazy. They recently came together for their Herb, Nouns, & Verbs 2 mixtape. DJ Burn One is the host of the project that came out earlier this week. As the mixtape is making its rounds, Zavey is doing the same.

Hip Hop Vibe also had the chance to talk to Zavey today about the moves he is making in the game. Alongside Heazy, Zavey is fresh off a collaboration with one of the biggest mixtape DJs in the game. Zavey spoke to us about his work with Heazy and their new mixtape.

Read the entire interview below:

How long have you and Heazy known each other? Actually, we have never met in person. He is from Ohio, but I met him through the production duo, Stunt-N-Dozier. We collaborated and it came out well, so we did Herb, Nouns, & Verbs. The first edition came out dope, so we decided to do a number two.

When did you two decide to get back into the lab together? Well, we had extra songs from our first mixtapes. Heazy was sending over verses, I would knock them out, and vice versa. We had songs for the mixtapes and then extras, so we decided to do another tape. Then, we had unfinished songs, so the result was Herb, Nouns, & Verbs 2.

Are the results of Herb, Nouns, & Verbs 2 pleasing to you? I feel like everybody has not heard it yet. Once people tune into it, they will see it is a really dope project. But, it does not have that many views right now.

You had DJ Burn One to host the mixtape, can you speak on that? I linked up with DJ Burn One and I have been following him since his early work with Yelawolf and Gucci Mane. I always wanted to work with him and it came to be when I began working with Stunt-N-Dozier. He liked their work and I reached out to Burn One and he saw I was with Stunt-N-Dozier and it began. We did Up Yonder first, it was a success, so we kept working.

Most of the mixtapes that have come out have major features, why did you guys refrain from doing that? For the simple fact that we have enough heavy artillery within the camp that we don’t need that. I feel like a lot of artists rely on the guests to make their mixtape, but we have enough. There are a lot of majors I would like to work with, but it has to fit, so it can come together naturally.

A lot of people frown on sequel projects, what made you and Heazy decide to revisit Herb, Nouns, & VerbsI am the type of artist where I do what I want to do. Me and Heazy agreed to do another mixtape under that title and the fans wanted it. When we did the first tape, I knew there would be a sequel for it from the jump. I don’t really care what other people think.

Do you see a third edition in the future? I can’t call it right now, it depends on this one does. But, I will not rule it out because me and Heazy are always working on new material.

As far as solo projects, what do you have coming up next? Right now, I am working on my solo tape, Peace of Mind, and I have three more mixtapes that are almost done and ready to go. These tapes will come after Peace of Mind, which is my primary focus at the moment.

Any chance of you hitting the road for a tour anytime soon? Oh yeah. That is a strong possibility. Me and my manager have talked about doing something like that real soon and it is definitely in the works. I do not have any details yet, though.

Where should fans go to connect with you and find out more about you? I am in the process of doing a new website and for now, everybody should follow my Twitter @ImZavey. I drop all my music on there, so fans can check it out. Within the next three weeks, the new site will be up.
