Recently, a major hip hop comeback took place when AZ released his mixtape, L.O.D.B. (Last of a Dying Breed). This new mixtape came this week and the hip hop media took the project and ran with it. Hosting this new project is DJ Mr. FX, who is one of the rising DJs in the game.

DJ Mr. FX received a major boost with his L.O.D.B. (Last of a Dying Breed) mixtape, which features appearances from veterans. Featured on the mixtape is such names as Ray J, Nas, Pete Rock, Raekwon, Twista, and more. A lot of the focus, and rightfully so, has gone to AZ, but DJ Mr. FX was the host of the mixtape.

Hip Hop Vibe reached out to DJ Mr. FX and briefly discussed the mixtape. But, there is more to DJ Mr. FX than this one mixtape. During the interview, DJ Mr. FX talked about his projects with AZ and some of the other moves he has in the game, which includes another project with AZ.

Read the entire interview below:

How did you get into the hip hop business? I got into to the business of hip hop by first as a kid loving the culture. As a kid, this was something I wanted to be part of. When I started doing mixtapes on tape and started to see the money I was getting, that is when I started to realize I’m in the music business.

Was it a life long dream of your to be a DJ? Yeah when I was coming up, I just found myself doing or copying what DJs were doing in the park. I copied it to the point I broke my mom’s stereo trying to scratch, plus growing up in Southside Jamaica Queens an having Grand Master Vic who was big at the time where I’m from to teach me was big for me.

Are you surprised to see how far you have come? Yes. At first I was trying to be big on my block.

How did you meet AZ? I met AZ through the producer, Baby Paul, BpZy.

What is it like to work with him? It was cool. We chopped it up on the phone when I was at BpZy’s crib and there we came up with an idea to do a CD. At the studio was where we up with the title and just vibed off each other and no egos, just respect for one another.

Do you like the way L.O.D.B came out? Yeah. I like the way it came out, some things could have been tweaked, but overall I like the CD.

Will you two be working on more projects? Oh yeah, we will be working on part two and it will only get better.

With a lot of DJs working on compilations, will you be doing the same? I try not to do the same as my peers, I like doing things different from what the next man is doing.

Who are some other people you are working with? I will be working with some of new artists that are coming up, like Ugle, Joka118, Young Pretty, Triggy, Q-Life, and mainstream artists.

Where can people go to connect with you and find out more about you? Well, find me @djmrfx on Twitter, Instagram and Vine and I do have Facebook djmrfx. Plus you see me at your mixtape one stops.
