In several interviews Wale has done, he stated he is doing all he can to help fully bring the Washington, DC hip hop scene to the forefront. Being one person, Wale said he can only do so much before the artists around him have to do something. If there ever was a second in line, it would be Fat Trel.
Although Wale has his own situation, Maybach Music is much more established as a record company. Rick Ross first began the expansion of the label when he added Wale and now he has returned to the DMV area. The leader of the Slutty Boyz, Fat Trel has the attention of the major labels already.
Perhaps Fat Trel’s recent appearance with Wale on “Sway in the Morning” on Shade 45 was foreshadowing. Maybach Music is in the market for some new artists and this morning, several posts on Twitter confirmed Fat Trel joining the label. It has been now confirmed that Fat Trel is MMG.
