A question has been posed about East Coast hip hop, specifically New York hip hop and the question is who is going to protect it. When Kendrick Lamar made his comments about New York on “Control,” Papoose was on it. In this current situation with Trinidad James, Maino has stepped up.
The Trinidad James situation has gone on for close to a week and Maino has covered the situation every step of the way. A couple of days ago, Maino showed up at DJ Naim’s event and he had plans of stepping up for the whole coast. Maino used the event to get his message out.
Also attending the event was the staff and personalities from Hot 97, whom Maino also mentioned. There have been a lot of shots thrown at New York hip hop and it’s gotten out of hand. Maino took his time at this event to call out any and everyone who has a problem with his area and with Hot 97.
