HHV Exclusive: Pete Rock talks DJ’s role in music and new projects

Longevity is something only a few people gain, especially in hip hop, but Pete Rock has managed to stick around for twenty six years. Early on, Pete Rock was one half of the duo, that is Pete Rock and CL Smooth. While CL Smooth was the emcee, Pete Rock was the DJ and producer.

Pete Rock continues to play a major factor in the game, breaking records as a DJ, making records as a producer, and even handling the mic. With his solo career, Pete Rock has dropped four albums, his last coming in 2008. Soon, Pete Rock will have some new music in the works for audiences.

During the 2014 Global Spin Awards, Pete Rock gave Hip Hop Vibe a minute. Briefly, he discussed the importance of DJs and the role a DJ plays in all genres of music. Then, he went on to announce the new edition of PeteStrumentals and Soul Survivor 2, both of which are right around the corner.
