Birdman files lawsuit against Jay Z’s TIDAL for $50 million over Lil Wayne on behalf of Cash Money Records
Tensions have been mounting between Birdman and Jay Z for well over a decade. Until a couple of years ago, many did not understand why Birdman continued challenging Jay Z. All of this was explained when Jay Z told “The Breakfast Club” about him almost signing Lil Wayne.
Birdman seemed to hype the tension between Lil Wayne and Jay Z, which returned in 2009, following two years of peace. But, it was obvious to most that Jay Z remained Lil Wayne’s idol. This is something Lil Wayne confirmed when he announced his TIDAL deal.
A little over a month since Lil Wayne joined TIDAL, he delivered his holdover album through the service. Breaking records, Lil Wayne did 3 million streams in one day and 10 million streams in his first week. Now, Birdman has filed a lawsuit against TIDAL for $50 million over exclusive rights to all music Lil Wayne makes, despite Jay Z’s company saying Wayne gave them rights, which were not exclusive.
