Since the 2016 elections, Maxine Waters has become a prominent figure on social media. Often, there are videos of her going off about the members of the Republican Party, and their decisions. She is one of the leading voices in opposition to the current administration.

Maxine Waters began her political career in 1976, when she served in the California Assembly, as a Democrat. In 1991, Maxine Waters was elected to the US House of Representatives. There, she has been very vocal, over her twenty-six years in office.

During Essence Fest, Maxine Waters spoke to Hip-HopVibe.com, taking time out with @MJThatMediaGurl. She spoke about how social media has made her very popular, with her followers rising, dramatically, from around 6,000 to 400,000. Then, she spoke on “the resistance” of the current administration, and how the president will impeach himself if he keeps tweeting.
