Birdman is definitely a New Orleans legend and it dates all the way back to his Hot Boyz days. He now wants to give back to the community in a major way as NOLA has been a city that has been hit hard by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Birdman took to Instagram to say that he wants to pay everyone’s rent for the month of May for everyone in the neighborhood where he grew up in which is the uptown area. The parts of uptown he’d like to take care of are “Mc melph calio and ST Thomas housing also from 3rd ward to 17th ward.” In the photo that was included in the post, it displayed himself and his brother, Slim.
He has already spoke with Q 93.3FM and Uptown Angela, who is the Executive Vice President of Programming iHeartmedia National Groups. Birdman would also like New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell to help out with these efforts. He went on to thank frontline workers who are helping others in the midst of this pandemic. Big salute to him for this generous offer. Hopefully, this is able to happen as many people are struggling financially right now due to businesses closing as a result of fear of the virus spreading.
Check out Bidman’s IG post discussing making these rent payments happen.
