46-year-old unarmed black man, George Floyd, was killed by Minnesota PD Officer, Derek Chauvin, on Monday night in Minneapolis, MN. Protests have since been ongoing in Minneapolis and other cities in the United States in order to get Floyd justice. Now, we have gotten a step closer.

Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman has now announced that Chauvin has finally been arrested and charged with charged with third-degree murder and manslaughter. John Harrington, commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, added that Chauvin was taken into custody by the the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. A press conference held by Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman is now ongoing.

Tou Thao, Thomas Lane and J Alexander Kueng were also officers on the scene with Chauvin who were fired with him on Tuesday. Hopefully, they get arrested and charged as well. In the end, we need convictions and for all four officers to get convicted and do prison time. Third-degree charges aren’t severe enough right now. If convicted though, Chauvin will get 25 years in prison. He is currently being held on $500,000 bond.
