Lil Wayne is facing some serious legal issues now and it dates back to an incident back in December 2019. At the time, he was found to have a gold-plated handgun in his luggage while on a private jet. This was at the Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport.

Wayne seemed to have been cleared of this at the time but now, it’s coming back to haunt him. According to TMZ, The U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida has charged Wayne with one count of possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon. If convicted, the Young Money rapper faced up to 10 years in prison. Back in 2009, he was convicted of a felony gun charge in New York.

Wayne’s attorney, Howard Srebnick, maintains the claim that he never planned to use the firearm. He cited how this is a violation from over a decade ago. Wayne will also be scheduled to appear in court in December

“There is no allegation that he ever fired it, brandished it, used it or threatened to use it. There is no allegation that he is a dangerous person. “The charge is that because he was convicted of a felony in the past, he is prohibited from possessing a firearm.”
