Cardi B has been easily one of the most dominant rappers since 2017 with her breakout single “Bodak Yellow.” Her success transitioned into her debut album “Invasion of Privacy” in 2018.
Invasion of Privacy is certified double platinum and has now just won the award for Best Album at the BET Awards. This was a competitive category as Meek Mill, Travis Scott, The Carters, and Ella Mai were all nominated for all having huge 2018s.
Scott put out his “Astroworld” project in August, Jay Z and Beyonce’ put out “Everything is Love,” in June, Ella Mai put out her debut self-titled album in October, and Meek released “Championships” in November after a bounce back year for him in which he was released from spending six months in jail for an unnecessary probation violating ruling. Every artist in this category had very huge chances to win this award, including Meek for his huge comeback which I think should have won him this but Cardi’s wave has been incredible. Nonetheless, Cardi’s consistency and hard work continues to pay off. Congratulations to her. Props to Meek, Travis, The Carters and Ella Mai on having very good albums as well.
