LeBron James talks to Russell Westbrook after offensive foul
Last night, the Los Angeles Lakers’ season effectively ended. While there are more games to play, the Lakers have officially been eliminated from the postseason. When the season began, the Lakers expected to contend for a title. Instead, the Suns, Grizzlies, Heat, and Warriors have been the NBA’s best teams this season. In the West, the Lakers were never even a part of the conversation.
Unfairly, Russell Westbrook has taken most of the blame for the Lakers’ season. Truth be told, Russell Westbrook has been the Lakers’ most consistent player. LeBron James and Anthony Davis being injured for the entire season is what sank the Lakers. With the two best players missing over half of the season, Russell Westbrook had to take on a bigger role. When LeBron and AD did play, they didn’t have the necessary chemistry.
Struggling is something the Phoenix Suns haven’t done this season. After losing to the Bucks in the NBA Finals, the Suns have been rolling this season. They got off to a bit of a slow start, beginning this season at 1-3. The Suns have gone 63-12 since then, beating the Lakers last night. During the game, Cam Payne drew an offensive foul from Russell Westbrook. When the game stopped, Russ vented to LeBron about this.
