Kawhi Leonard roasted after NBA’s new rule of superstars resting
Kawhi Leonard is often getting made fun of, because of all of the time he misses from playing basketball. A lot of fans jokingly call him a part-time NBA player. In addition, there is a meme with Kawhi’s face on it that reads along the lines of a woman saying she wants a man who doesn’t play games. The reason for these jokes is because Kawhi Leonard is one of the NBA’s best players of all-time. This morning, the NBA introduced a new rule against teams letting superstar players rest in big games. As a result, fans began with the Kawhi Leonard jokes.
Kawhi Leonard is a force of nature and he was the successor of the San Antonio Spurs dynasty. In the first year after Tim Duncan retired, Kawhi led the Spurs to the Western Conference Finals. Before he had the unfortunate situation with Zaza Pachulia, the Spurs had a 22 point lead over the Golden State Warriors. Even with their Kevin Durant-led super team, the Warriors likely would have lost that series to the Spurs. However, the injury forever changed Kawhi’s career and the Spurs’ franchise trajectory.
Kawhi Leonard forced his way out of San Antonio, in 2018. He was traded to the Raptors and led them to the 2019 championship. After that, he signed with the Clippers in free agency. Since then, Kawhi barely played in the Clippers’ games. Initially, he and Paul George were believed to be a championship contending team. However, they hardly ever play, leaving the Clippers a .500 team. To combat that, the NBA introduced a new rule penalizing teams for resting stars. As a result, Kawhi is being roasted by fans.
