Out of all the rappers from the 2005 Houston boom, Chamillionaire debuted later than all of them, but had the biggest success. While Mike Jones, Slim Thug, and Paul Wall remained a little more than regional stars, Chamillionaire reached over into the mainstream with “Ridin.'” This success has not been overlooked in the following years.
Circumstances have left Chamillionaire far from the position he was in during the summer of 2006. Disputes with Universal Records on what type of music to make and when to release it find him more in his summer 2005 position. But, Chamillionaire remains confident he can come back with more anthems.
Chamillionaire recently talked to Bootleg Kev about a number of topics. Houston made a bit of a comeback in 2012, but not through Houston rappers. Instead, A$AP Rocky incorporated the sound into his music. During the interview, Chamillionaire spoke on rappers doing this, his own sound, and his upcoming work.
