With the “gangsta” element slowly evaporating from the game, the timing was right for a positive, clean, rapper. Rarely has a rapper entered the game and truly “kept it real.” Diggy Simmons has done just that and has met tremendous success doing so, it is no surprise he is a member of hip hop’s royal Simmons family.
Refusing to take heed to the warnings from Rev Run, his father and Run-DMC member, or his uncle, Russell Simmons, founder of Def Jam, Diggy Simmons decided he wanted to rap. Soon, Atlantic Records came knocking on his door and the rest has been history. In a short span of time, Diggy Simmons has released two hit singles.
Unexpected Arrival is a fitting title for Diggy Simmons’ debut. One would think being cut from hip hop’s royal cloth would lead to ultimate success. But, hip hop royalty is not like European royalty. In the hip hop game, no one is handed the title because of their bloodline.
So far, Diggy Simmons has proven he has what it takes to be successful and he has done so without uttering a single curse word.
