YRS Jerzy’s Wednesday Throwback: Big Pun ft. Noreaga. – “You Came Up”

A lot of people forget just how good the 1990s were. Not only was everybody going platinum, everybody had multiple hits under their belts. With Big Pun, most casual fans know him best for his Joe-assisted single, “Still Not A Playa,” but he had more under his belt.

Big Pun is a hip hop legend, for a reason, despite only being a few years deep in the game. The Bronx rapper crammed a lot of good music into a very brief period. Off his Capital Punishment album, in 1998, Big Pun included the single, “You Came Up,” featuring Noreaga aka N.O.R.E.

Because of how much music there is, some of these classics can easily be forgotten. This afternoon, though, remember this one, as the Wednesday Throwback is giving the spotlight to Big Pun. The “You Came Up” single, in the hook, gives a preview of what’s to come, with Big Pun going platinum, the first Puerto Rican rapper to do so and N.O.R.E. soon followed.
