YRS Jerzy’s Wednesday Throwback: Big Tymers (Birdman and Mannie Fresh) – “Still Fly”

People can say what they want about Cash Money Records, which they do, but this label has hits. With their success has always come controversy, but Birdman and company have a history of rebounding strong. That’s what they did back in 2002.

After Cash Money Records endured losing 90% of their roster during the 2000-2001 period, they were counted out. The only notable acts on the label were Birdman and Mannie Fresh as Big Tymers and Lil Wayne. They all made notable hits in 2002, too.

Birdman and Mannie Fresh went into the studio and made their classic anthem, “Still Fly.” The summer of 2002 saw many hits from major artists, most-notably Eminem, Nelly, Ja Rule, and Cam’ron. But, the early summer saw Big Tymers and “Still Fly” win and this run is remembered in this week’s Wednesday Throwback.
