YRS Jerzy’s Wednesday Throwback: Mary J. Blige ft. Brook Lynn – “Enough Cryin'”

When Mary J. Blige returned with The Breakthrough, in 2005, she was following up a lackluster album. With her new album, Mary J. wanted to prove she was still a major force. She did it by releasing good music, delivering “Be Without You” as the lead single.

Mary J. Blige had big plans for “Enough Cryin’,” which was the album’s second single. Initially, she planned for Foxy Brown to perform the rap vocals, but that fell through. So, Mary J. Blige created a classic moment, and did the raps, herself, under the Brook Lynn alias.

Early in the summer, of 2006, Mary J. Blige released “Enough Cryin’,” which became a major hit record. The song became a hit, though not of the same magnitude of her lead single. But, it is a classic, in its own right, and this week’s Wednesday Throwback.
