Hip hop has changed from what it used to be even five years ago. Case and point are guys like French Montana. Most people associate his start with “Choppa Choppa Down,” but French Montana was putting out mixtapes four years before that, among them Coke Wave.
But, French Montana’s mixtapes managed to carry him a long way, as he got shows off these tapes and industry connections. When his mixtape buzz reached new heights, there was a bidding war for French Montana. Birdman, Diddy, Jay-Z, and Kanye West were among the people who wanted French.
In the end, Diddy won the battle, but French Montana maintained good relationships with everybody. Just recently, French Montana was hanging out with Rap-A-Lot Records’ CEO, J. Prince’s son, J. Prince Jr., and Jeremih. French Montana showed he was still making good cash with him holding a stack full of cash in the Instagram pic.
