Is the Los Angeles Clippers’ window of opportunity closing? #NBAPlayoffs
Fortunes for the Los Angeles Clippers began to look up in 2009, when they drafted Blake Griffin. However, Blake Griffin did not begin to play until 2010-2011 season. Because of his superstar appeal and athleticism, the Clippers became a popular team to watch.
In the history of the Los Angeles Clippers, they rarely were a popular team to watch. During the 2011 offseason, the Clippers became something else, an actual contender. Chris Paul was added to the roster via trade and he gave the Clippers what they needed to become a contender.
During the 2012-2013 season, the Los Angeles Clippers maintained the best record in the NBA for most of the season, as Chris Paul teamed with Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan to form a trio. Most considered Chris Paul the league MVP until the Clippers went on a late season skid that led to them losing in the first round of the playoffs. However, the Clippers did win their first division title that season, winning their second last season.
Last year, many expected the Los Angeles Clippers to move past the Oklahoma City Thunder in the second round, but they ended up falling apart. This year, the Golden State Warriors didn’t give the Clippers a chance to win their third straight division title and they appear to be on their way to facing LA in the second round. More than likely, the Warriors will in fact defeat the Clippers this year.
With the Golden State Warriors emerging, the Los Angeles Clippers are moving into the “older” territory. As any NBA fan knows, each team has a certain window of opportunity to win a championship. So, is the window closing for the Los Angeles Clippers before they are no longer even the best team in Los Angeles?
