This summer, the show everybody is tuned into is “Power,” which airs every Saturday night on Starz. The show centers on the personal and professional life of James St. Patrick aka Ghost. It seems as if both are on the edge of going bad this summer.
Personally, Ghost had it all with his wife, Tasha (Naturi Naughton), and their kids. But, he ended up getting involved with Angela (Lela Loren), who happens to be an undercover cop. Her job is to send Ghost to prison, fortunately she only knows Ghost as James, Jamie for short.
Omari Hardwick is definitely bringing life into Ghost and this is shown in every scene. Although he is cold and detached, he is bringing it in the role of gangster with a heart of gold. When it comes to business, Ghost runs a tight ship with Tommy (Joseph Sikora) by his side. The two appear to be more than partners, they are also best friends.
This season, the stakes are high for Ghost, as his drug operation is under scrutiny from law enforcement, as they come closer to busting him. Meanwhile, he is dealing with Kanan (50 Cent) plotting against him, all while pretending to be his friend and his son, Shawn (Sinqua Walls), sleeping with Tasha while working as Ghost’s driver. All of that doesn’t even come close to the drama with Ghost’s legitimate business, the club, which is also under attack.
With the whole world against him, Ghost is still making more money than the average, still has the love of his wife and the love of Angela, who is having a hard time busting him because of it. This dude, Ghost has defied the odds of life and Omari Hardwick’s portrayal has made it believable. In the television world, Ghost cemented himself as the King of New York and no music “Empire” can take it from him… yet.
