Today, Real Talk NY leaked their exclusive interview with Ace Hood. In this interview, the South Florida rapper discussed his Trials & Tribulations album. With this album, Ace Hood continued his strong run of dropping hit singles. But, in this interview, Ace Hood said he knew he could become one of the greats.

This is always shaky territory, a few years ago, Lil Wayne was placed in this category, which may have been jumping the gun. Regardless, he hit the nail on the head when it comes to modern-day hip hop, Tupac Shakur, The Notorious B.I.G., and Jay-Z. People have their own digs against those guys, but they are the standard.

Understand, Ace Hood has some hits under his belt and he has the respect of the industry. No one is doubting his ability to create hit records, Ace Hood has put out some of the best songs of the 2010s. Catchy is what Ace Hood is good at, but classic is a whole other ball game.

Very few artists can last four studio albums and remain relevant, but Ace Hood did it. Still, he has yet to even manage a gold album in this five year span that has produced four albums. As it was proven this summer, numbers are not everything, Ace Hood has plenty of platinum singles under his belt. But, to become one of the greats, a little more recognition from the fans is deserved, Birdman fought to get Ace Hood on the YMCMB roster, but some fans aren’t sold on it.

In recent years, the hip hop world witnessed Lil Wayne rise from a similar position (although in a different landscape) and get very close to greatness. Just two years ago, Rick Ross blossomed into the biggest star in the game and was knocking on the door of legendary and opened up discussion. Ace Hood has made a bold statement, but he also shocked the world when he warned of his comeback in 2011. He did that, but can Ace Hood truly become one of hip hop’s all-time greats?
