If anyone hears the current hip hop, they should realize something, it doesn’t quite sound the same. Jay-Z feels this is a new golden era and he is partially right, because there is a little of something for everyone. Boom bap has made a comeback, but it is coming from North Carolina out of all places.
Chox-Mak is the man who has taken the internet by storm this year. His name is popping up everywhere and he is working with a lot of big names. Given his sound, which is a far cry from the Petey Pablo days, Chox-Mak represents the New South. With his music everywhere and his name picking up, a lot of people are feeling him.
Always humbled, count Chox-Mak in for a couple of re-tweets and radio drops, anything to reciprocate the support shown to him. Truth be told, Chox-Mak is one of the leaders of a very active North Carolina hip hop scene. There is a lot going on within the state’s hip hop scene and Chox-Mak is at the forefront of it.
Chox-Mak is currently tearing the game down and it started early this year. He has a lot of viral hits, but the most-notable ones are his single, “Make it Last” and “NLA.” Both songs have lightyears of differences, but they represent the same man, the versatile Chox-Mak. He has a lot going for him and his sound is something a lot of executives for major labels are impressed by, which has made him one of the fastest-rising stars in the game.
A lot of stars rise, but it doesn’t guarantee a spot in the sky. At the same time, Chox-Mak is consistently dropping dope music and he is off the heels of his Life After Def EP. With that project doing well and with several DJs adding Chox-Mak to mixtapes and radio rotation, he is leading the next generation of hip hop stars, representing the New South. But, is Chox-Mak the next North Carolina artist to blow, as he continues the lyrical trend started by J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar.
