Another star to emerge in 2010 was Waka Flocka Flame, another member from Gucci Mane’s Brick Squad camp. Basically filling the role of OJ da Juiceman, Waka Flocka Flame quickly became a bigger star than Gucci Mane. At a time when Atlanta hip hop was falling off the map, Waka Flocka Flame helped keep Atlanta relevant in the rap game.

Due to his success in 2010, Waka Flocka Flame took some time off in 2011. Late in the summer of 2011, Waka Flocka Flame released “Round of Applause.” The song immediately became popular and Drake soon added a verse to the song. Upon contacting Waka Flocka Flame, Drake’s verse soon became the official remix, which Waka Flocka Flame used for the single.

“Round of Applause” soon was the launch for Triple F Life, Waka Flocka Flame’s sophomore album. Even though he does not sell many records, Waka Flocka Flame has been a force in the game. Atlanta is returning to prominence in the rap game and he is in the middle of the action. During his feature with XXL, Waka Flocka Flame said he intentionally took 2011 off to give people a break from his music.

Back, stronger than ever, Waka Flocka Flame is one of the most-popular rappers in the game. Not only are his own songs doing well, with the music video for his “I Don’t Really Care” completed, Waka Flocka Flame is also appearing on tracks from other artists. However, the spotlight will soon shift back to Waka Flocka Flame when June 12 arrives. June 12 is the official release date for his Triple F Life album.
