Without 50 Cent and DJ Drama, the mixtape scene would be much different from what it is now. These two, on different aspects of the field, helped to bring new life to mixtapes and this is now the avenue for artists to get into the game. This avenue has most recently allowed Troy Ave his own portion of the spotlight.
Troy Ave has openly stated, several times, that he has modeled himself after 50 Cent and he continues saying this. The Brooklyn emcee has gone as far as to even say that his BSB group is the new G-Unit. If this is the case, Troy Ave is modeling himself after a good person, as there isn’t much that 50 Cent doesn’t do.
50 Cent discussed this with DJ Drama when they spoke during his radio show. In the interview, 50 Cent also addressed Troy Ave and talked about his now strong friendly ties to Fat Joe. They also touched on the “Power” series on Starz that 50 Cent is the executive producer of, along with the Street King Immortal album.
